Phillies Hot Stove: Jean Segura Now a Free Agent

As expected, the Philadelphia Phillies declined the club option for infielder Jean Segura. The 32-year old is now a free agent.

The move allows the Phillies to pursue some big name free agents such as Trea Turner, Xander Bogaerts, or Dansby Swanson. Free agency begins at 5:00 PM/Eastern on Thursday.

Segura spent the last four seasons with the Phillies after being acquired from Seattle in exchange for J.P. Crawford and Carlos Santana. He batted .281 with with 43 HR, 176 RBI, 78 2B, 9 3B, in 427-games.
