It’s official! The Philadelphia Phillies will wear their retro powder blue blue uniforms for World Series Game 5, the team announced on Thursday afternoon.
The Phillies have worn the classic powder blue uniforms for Thursday home games the past few seasons. As soon as Game 3 was postponed on Monday night, the sports uniforms universe wondered if the powder blues would make an appearence. The Phils decided to stick with the script.
The last time the Phillies wore powder blue in the Fall Classic was 1983 against Baltimore. Uni Watch‘s Paul Lukas points out this is the first time powder blues will be worn in the World Series in almost 40-years! The 1985 Kansas City Royals were the last team to wear the 1970’s-80’s fashion trend in the Fall Classic.
