Former Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux joined The Wally and Methot Show to discuss his recent signing with his hometown Ottawa Senators. The hope of a Flyers reunion with Giroux after trading him during the 2021-22 season were quickly dashed when the 34-year old signed a 3-year deal worth an AAV of $6.5 million early in free agency with the Sens.
While most of the conversation centers around Giroux’s arrival in Ottawa, the Flyers’ longest serving captain discussed what he expects in his return to Philadelphia.
G’s expectations, a standing ovation of course. Followed by getting boo’d like a villain.
“Philly fans, I don’t know what to expect. They might be giving me a standing “O” and they might boo me. That’s what I expect and I wouldn’t ask for anything else. Flyers fans are absolutely nuts, their passion and intensity is something I can relate to.”

Classic!
Overall, this is a really fun interview. Giroux touches on his NHL debut in 2008 against Ottawa and how Paul Holmgren informed him he was debuting. He also discusses his journey to the NHL, his thoughts on John Tortorella and more. It’s definitely worth your time.
Giroux will face the Flyers for the first time on Saturday, November 5 in Ottawa. He returns to Wells Fargo Center a week later for a 1:00 PM puck drop in what is sure to be an emotional scene.
